The adhoc committee set up by the Abia State House of Assembly to investigate the financial activities of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba says it will carryout adequate task to actualize the objective of the House.
The chairman of the committee and member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Jerry Uzosike made this known during a briefing at the Assembly complex in Umuahia.
He said the committee has commenced work by inviting some stakeholders in the institution noting that the committee was not constituted to victimize anyone but to conduct investigations and make necessary recommendations for legislative actions.
Hon. Uzosike, stated that their focus would be geared towards staffing, alleged operation of multiple bank accounts and its financial dealings and also to find out why the institution could not pay staff salaries.
He therefore, encouraged the whistle blowers and assured that the committee will give them protection for their support.
In addition, some members of the committee, Mr Chijioke Chukwu of Bende North State Constituency, and Member Representing Umunneochi State Constituency Hon. Okey Igwe called on the staff to cooperate with the committee by rendering adequate information that would assist in proffering lasting solution
Again, the Committee has two weeks to conclude its investigation and report back to the house.
