Ikpeazu Seeks ICAN Partnership on Public Finance Management
Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie lkpeazu has assured the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN of Government’s preparedness to partner them in the promotion of accountability and transparency in the State and Nation’s public finance management.
Dr lkpeazu who gave the assurance he received in audience the 57th President of ICAN, Mrs Comfort Eyitayo on a three day working visit to the State at Government House, Umuahia expressed delight that their members in Govt have made their profession proud with their financial inputs in areas of budget presentation analysis in the State and Nation.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu reiterates the present administration’s resolve to continue to work assiduously to change the developmental narratives of the State in terms of provision of quality health care, educational and infrastructural development to enable Abia continue to be a reference point in the country.
The State’s Chief Executive restates Govt’s preparedness to continue to collaborate with other Agencies of Govt in their bid to lay more emphasis to ensure that Abia remain the most peaceful and secured State so that investors will continue to troupe into the State, recognizing the fact that, with lots of investments and industries, the unemployment rate in the State will reduce which will inturn have a rebounding effect in the State and Nation.
He used the forum to commend the ICAN President, Mrs Comfort Eyitayo for not only bringing in lots of innovations in ICAN through her developmental strides, but encouraged members to get involved in governance because of its multiplier effect and assured that Govt will support to ensure that the ICAN Amendment Act is effected as well as work towards the improvement of Abia members accessment rating.
Earlier in her address, the 57th ICAN President, Mrs Comfort Eyitayo who disclosed that the Institute is not relenting through different innovations in its contributions to the national desire for a prosperous economy and commended Governor Okezie lkpeazu for providing purposeful leadership in the State which is being reflected in the ongoing and completed developmental projects scattered across the State.
Mrs Eyitayo reassured that ICAN will always remain a trusted partner to Governments and various businesses across the country and called on the State Governor to support the Institute’s efforts to amend the 1965 Act establishing ICAN among other needs.
