Plenary session of the Abia State House of Assembly for 8th June 2022
The State House of Assembly presided over by the Speaker Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has passed into law H.A.B 57: The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, 5th Alteration, Bill 2022.
This followed the conclusion of consideration of the transmitted bill and voting in favour of the altrations by members of the State House of Assembly during its plenary Session.
The State House of Assembly also passed a resolution summoning the Commissioner for Finance, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the State Accountant General to appear before it.
This also followed a motion of Urgent Public Importance on the delay and non payment of salaries of some workers in the state in negation of earlier resolutions of the House as moved by the Deputy Majority Leader and member for Ukwa East State Constituency, Chief Paul Taribo.
Announcing the resolution, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji said the invitation has become necessary to ensure that the resolution of the House is obeyed and to ensure that workers in the state get paid as and when due.
The House at plenary received an invitation for the burial of a retired Permanent Secretary and former Clerk to the State House of Assembly, Dr. S.O. Ulekwu of Umuzomgbo Ihechiowa in Arochukwu Local Government Area who will be buried on the 28th of October, 2022 in his home town and observed a minute silence in his honour.
