The online media practitioners Abia State chapter Ompan has said that the state may become ungovernable going by the increased number of kidnapping and killings going on in the state.
This was contained in a release signed by the chairman and Secretary of the association chief Paddy Anyatonwu and Mr Steve Unegbu.
They expressed worry about the high rate of kidnapping within and outskirt of the state while appealing that the state government and security agencies charged with the responsibility of maintaining peace and order as a matter of urgency do the needful in restoring calmness in the affected communities.
According to the release, the need for the State to direct security operatives to immediately curb the menace by scrutinizing activities and occupants of the forests, valleys and swampy areas which is alleged to be occupied by these outlaws who perpetrate this unwholesome practice stressing the need for the arrest and prosecution of these kidnappers terrorizing the Okigwe-Uturu-Isuikwuato roads.
The Association further stated that if proactive and strategic measures are not taken, investors and visitors will be scared to visit the state, which will affect the developmental pace of the state.
Finally, the release noted that they will continue to hold the state government accountable as a watchdog of the society, thus they will not relent in speaking volume via her media anchors on the primary role of the government which is to protect the lives and properties of her citizens.
