The Okwu-Olokoro people in Umuahia South L.G.A of Abia State, have raised alarm over Fulani herdsmen activities in their community.
The community lamented that herdsmen with their cows destroyed cassavas worth thousands of naira during an inspection tour with Newsmen over the weekend.
The Chairman of Okwu autonomous community, Mr Obinna Umezuruike who led newsmen to the affected farms, however commended members of his community for not taking laws into their hands.
He also seized the opportunity to advice his people to inform community leaders whenever they see herders within their villages, instead of making troubles with the herdsmen.
According to him, Okwu community has agreed to write other communities in Olokoro, to notify those who owned cows on the need to construct cattle ranches for them, following the claims made by some of the herdsmen that some of the cows were owned by stakeholders within the local government area.
