The president of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) FMC Umuahia Abia State Dr Onuh Emeka Felix, has urged Abia State Government as a matter of urgency to settle the outstanding arrears and backlogs of Salaries owed health workers in both Abia State University Teaching Hospital and Hospital Management Board Umuahia.
According to Dr. Onuh, it will serve as a moral booster to the health workers who are risking it all at the front line of the fight against Covid- 19 pandemic in the state.
The president further advised the state Government to ensure that sufficient quantities of personal protective equipments (PPEs) and other consumable are sufficiently made available to government hospitals in the state, adding that the concept of group life insurance must be introduced for all healthcare workers in the state.
Also, the President canvassed for aggressive media awareness Campaign to educate Abians on the modes of transmission of coronavirus and basic preventive measures adding that obedience to Covid-19 protocols will ensure survivability.
He pointed out that any lockdown directive without a commensurate distribution of sufficient palliatives to Abians might seriously engender the fight against the Pandemic.
