The speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, kicked off the Bawas/Doris Folake Uche (Ada Ibeku) Free Medical Outreach sponsored by Essential Plus Transportation Inc USA held today at the All Saints Methodist Church of Nigeria, Amuzukwu Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA of the State.
The Speaker while addressing the people said, he was highly delighted with what he saw at the venue of the Outreach, adding that it was a sign that the philanthropy of the benefactors were well accepted by the people.
“There is an elderly mother I saw here now with her blood pressure being checked. This is a good thing. He whom God has blessed should bless others. That’s what my elder brother, Chief Akwukwuegbu, is doing here today.
“Empowerment programmes are not just for one person. If we leave it to one person, the person will not survive. If you’re an entrepreneur fortunate to have been blessed with wealth, use it to reach out to others. That’s the essence of our collective humanity. This is why God will continue to bless Chief Akwukwuegbu, his wife and children because they are committed to the good of humanity.
“I actually expected nothing less from them because of their spirit of philanthropy with which they have always been known.
“On my part, I will ensure that all necessary support are given for the completion of the health centre and mini stadium in Amuzukwu. I will also mobilise resources to grade your internal roads before the 25th of this month”, the Speaker said.
Earlier in his speech, Chief Uche Akwukwuegbu (Bawas), said the free medical program was a way of giving back to society, and that the free medical outreach was for all irrespective of ethnicity, political affiliation or even religious consideration. He said he was sure many lives will be touched through the outreach.
The philanthropist thanked the Speaker for accepting to kick off the program, saying it was a way of his family keying into the Speaker’s Direct Touch Initiative which has been his Initiative for empowerement of the people.
